United Christian Missions, Inc.
provides tool
kits for church members through the UCM Skills for Life
Initiative.
Gifts provided to UCM by generous
donors are spent in such a way as to enhance the local church’s
ministry and not to promote UCM or foreign dependence. The goal of
UCM is not to provide all the assistance of the local church but to
serve as an enabler to help it grow and multiply.
In fact, since it is extremely hard to
ship items into the country, whenever possible UCM funds are spent
doing business with members of local churches and they are asked to
tithe to their church on the money earned. In an effort to strengthen
the local church a Skills for Life Initiative was established.
The goal of the initiative is to
provide the resources by which the following Tool Kits can be
purchased:
| Carpenter’s Tool Kit |
 |
| Mason’s Tool Kit |
 |
| Mechanic’s Tool Kit |
 |
| Electrician’s Tool Kit |
 |
The desired result of the initiative is
to provide for individuals identified through the local church an
appropriate tool kit in relationship to their skills by which they
can:
Perform work needed on the church
facility
Assist other church members with
their needs
Use the kit to help earn a living
If these goals are met the results will
be a strengthening connection with the local church and many needs
being fulfilled inside and outside the church. It will also help
lessen poverty’s grip and hopefully help provide resources and
income to the church family.
A minimum gift of $100 will provide
a tool kit with some of the most necessary tools needed. A UCM Field
Coordinator works in conjunction with a local pastor to secure the
tools and to communicate the intent of the initiative to the
recipient and his or her pastor.
